Investing in massage is an investment in your health.

-        Zero Balancing - Zero Balancing is an innovative body-mind system of hands-on therapy developed in the 1970s by Fritz Smith, MD, a pioneer in the field of integrative medicine. The practitioner uses comfortable finger pressure and gentle traction to engage body structure and body energy. Clients experience deep relaxation, internal organization, and improved function. This is a clothed modality - the client should wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement. Jeans are not recommended.  For more information on Zero Balancing, visit http://www.zerobalancing.com .

¨      Martha’s therapeutic massage – A massage mix based on standard Swedish massage and incorporating various techniques depending on the client’s needs and desires. Techniques include; *trigger point therapy, *zero balancing, *deep tissue massage, *acupressure, *cranial sacral techniques, *reflexology,  passive stretching, and elements from shiatsu working the traditional Chinese energy meridians.  This massage is performed on a table using professional draping and lotion with the client disrobed to his or her level of comfort.

¨      Shiatsu – A modality with origins from Japan which is performed on a floor mat and incorporates all of the traditional Chinese medicine meridians (energy pathways) as well as full body massage and assisted stretching.  This is a clothed modality – the client should wear clothes appropriate for stretching in. PS.... Shiatsu is one of my personal faves, but I'm out of practice... ask me about special guinea pig rates...  :)

  • Trigger Point Therapy is a modality that specifically locates tender points that refer pain to other areas of the body, known as trigger points.  Often chronic or acute pain can stem from these points. This modality will feel fairly deep, and should have a “hurt so good” feeling to it.
  • Deep Tissue Massage works through the layers of fascia to manipulate soft tissue back into alignment. This is, as named, a very deep modality.
  • Acupressure stems from Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is an energetic modality that uses extremely light pressure to stimulate and balance energetic centers known as acu-points.  Very subtle and relaxing.
  • Cranial Sacral or Cranio-sacral techniques are deeply relaxing manipulations of the fascia, which affects the rhythm that runs throughout the body from the cranium to the sacrum. A basic technique which this therapist uses is known as fascial unwinding, where the therapist gently allows the fascia to move on it’s own, and guides it into deeper motions for more freedom of movement.
  • Reflexology  is based on the premise that the areas of the foot (or hand) correlate to areas within the body.  This is a very thorough and deep massage most commonly performed on the feet, but canalso be performed on the hands.  Recommended for clients who have contraindications to standard massage, and also incorporated into both the basic massage as well as Shiatsu.
